Terms of Service

Last updated: July 2026

1. What the service is

FreeAirShare is a free, browser-based tool for sharing files and text with other devices on the same local WiFi network. File transfers happen peer-to-peer using WebRTC — your files are never uploaded to our servers. The Text feature stores short messages temporarily in server memory so nearby devices can read them; messages expire automatically. No account is required.

2. Acceptable use

You may use FreeAirShare for lawful purposes on networks you are permitted to use. You may not use the service to:

  • Share files or content that infringes copyright or other intellectual property rights
  • Distribute malware, ransomware, or other malicious software
  • Share illegal content of any kind
  • Harass, threaten, or harm other users
  • Attempt to intercept or access another user's transfers without their consent
  • Use the service on public or untrusted networks to share sensitive personal data

3. Your content

You own the files and text you share. By sharing them you grant other users on the same network the ability to download or read that content during your sharing session. You represent that you have the right to share everything you make available through the service. We do not review, moderate, or store the content of your files.

4. Security and network trust

FreeAirShare is designed for use on trusted private networks such as your home or office WiFi. Because any device on the same network can see what you are sharing, do not use this service to share sensitive, confidential, or personal documents on public networks (coffee shops, airports, shared hotel WiFi, etc.). File transfers are not end-to-end encrypted beyond what the WebRTC data channel provides.

5. No warranty

The service is provided "as is" without any warranty. We do not guarantee that file transfers will always complete, that the service will be available at any given time, or that it will work correctly in every browser or network configuration. Use of the service is at your own risk.

6. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, FreeAirShare is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including data loss, failed transfers, or unauthorised access to shared content on a network you chose to use the service on.

7. Changes

We may update these terms when the service changes. The date at the top of this page reflects the last revision. Continued use after an update means you accept the new terms.
